Secessions In Spain: Spanish Socialists Now Forced To Negotiate With The Catalan Independence Movement – October 14, 2023
Spain still has a Constitutional monarchy, it’s current Prime Minister is Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón is part of the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party. When people tell me that fascism is dead, I always like to remind people that Nazi Party was an acronym for National Socialist German Workers’ Party. So when people argue that Fascism is part of the Far Right, I always have to investigate how that person defines the Far Right.
Far Right means different things to different people, I HATE socialism, but in the U.S. and Canada, I’d be considered a Conservative, bordering on being a libertarian and the last thing people like me want is a BIG GOVERNMENT, which is what National and Democratic Socialists want. Marxism and Communism are the most extreme forms of socialism, and ANARCHY or Anarcho-Capitalism are the more extreme forms of Conservatism.
The point I’m trying to make here is in order to get the attention of most Europeans; a Political Party has to make sure it appeals to the SOCIALISTS. The socialists with the most power in the country are usually the day laborers, which is why you “Labour Party’s” or “Workers’ Political Party’s” in many parts of Europe.
The concept is that as laborers they should have more COLLECTIVE POLITICAL power over those evil capitalists. Why I pay attention to these types of stories is that I’m a capitalist, so I like to learn about the many socialist and communist groups in Europe, Asia, and Africa.
When you’re a capitalist, you have the habit of following the CAPITAL, and what typically happens with socialists and lovers of BIG GOVERNMENT is that they want to take more wealth and resources from the private sector and hand it over to the PUBLIC sector and use the government as the distribution channel in which resources can be equally redistributed.
Why this is always so funny to observe is that the day laborer imagines that politicians, who are nothing more than glorified salespeople, can micromanage the ECONOMIC and financial affairs of an entire country while simultaneously stealing from one group to give to the group that voted for the socialist politician.
Now, let’s not confuse The Catalan independence movement with a capitalist secession movement. In a nutshell (I’m definitely not going to write a detailed explanation in this short post), The MODERN independence of Catalonia from Spain was sparked by the financial crisis of 2007–2008, you know, that period in which bank bailouts were all the rage.
However, the origins of this secession movement is actually a Monarchal rooted in the Crown of Aragon and the Kingdom of Aragon, which is still the County of Barcelona. Barcelona is sitting on Prime Real Estate, so you can see why Spain definitely doesn’t want to let Catalonia.
However, because of the economic failures of the various socialist governments in Spain, The Catalan independence movement is now being listened to. With socialism, they eventually run out of other people’s stuff to steal and redistribute, and the worst part about socialism is the ENTITLEMENT attitudes that go along with it.
So the voters, after years of voting for socialist policies, find themselves in a compromised position because their socialist ideals are repelling capital, while the very same voters request that their socialist government send them more money in exchange for their votes.
So because Spain’s debt is currently 95.5% of GDP, and they don’t have the luxury of printing money, like the United States, their socialist governments are finding themselves in a bind.
Spain is one of the reasons why I wonder how long the European Union will hold up. Italy, France, Portugal, and Spain are either nearing or over 100% of GDP, meaning that their welfare states are no longer solvent. Spain currently owes over $1 Trillion EUROS, and the population of Spain is only 47 million.
A lot of socialists imagine that immigration should fix this problem; however, as I like to point out, the culture is what it is, so if an immigrant moves to Spain, there’s a good chance that either that immigrant will behave like the Spaniards or they’ll attempt to bring their FAILED cultures into Spain.
In France, they had a more open borders policy; some people mirrored the French, and others refused to adopt to french culture, instead, they were trying to force their failed cultures on the French people. If my country is flourishing, why would I leave? And after I leave my country of origin, why would I try to force my failed culture on my new countrymen?
Now, when you come up with the answer to that question, ask yourself, why, when your economy is failing via your failed socialist policies, do you deem it wise to flood your country with immigrants from failed states?
This failure by Spain will continue to fuel The Catalan independence movement, which, although not capitalist in origin, has more incentive to leave the declining empire by simply being Shrewed on the political stage.
Whenever I see socialism, I think of secession or perpetual economic turmoil. Secessionists usually have a FISCAL plan for their economy after they leave; currently, because of the language barrier, I do not understand the fiscal details of The Catalan independence movement, nor do I know what their new constitution would look like. I’m still unsure if The Catalan independence movement is to create a monarchy or a Republic.
Interesting times ahead!
