Suntrust Mortgage Review

This post was written March 14 2010, To date Sun trust although not the best mortgage company I’ve reviewed has one of the lowest complaint rates online in this type of industry. There we’re quite a few complaints about Suntrust Mortgage but out of the amount of customer portfolio’s they Suntrust currently has the complaints we’re very few. Again this is not the best Mortgage company I’ve reviewed but it’s better than many. Some important stats you can find for yourself at the sun trust website  http://www.stmcareers.com/about/whoweare.asp

Vital statistics Through December, 31 2009
Servicing Portfolio: $178.9 billion
Number of Investors: 326
Loans Originated: $37.4 billion
Number of Correspondents: 1,206
Loans Purchased: $12.7 billion
Number of Brokers: 2,163
Total Production: $50.1 billion
Number of Locations: 202
Number of Loans Serviced: 1,016,766
Number of Permanent Employees: 4,074

The reason i bring this up is most mortgage companies won’t even display this type of information to the consumer when review this company i found that to be quite bold on there part.

Suntrust Mortgage Complaints

There are very few complaints about Suntrust Mortgage the ones you might be able to find are usually from people who missed payments and the procedure when that happens is usually the same or very simular whenever your dealing with mortgage lenders or mortgage borrowers. Due to the fact that in the end when you don’t pay your mortgage it’s basically a breach of the contract on the consumers part so if this times many times you have to be very persistent in getting the matter solved o your own.

Suntrust Mortgage Customer Service

You can call Suntrust Mortgage for yourself at 1-800-634-7928 but i found there customer service rather standard. On there website you are encouraged to find a loan officer this is another reason it’s quite hard to review this type of business because many times it depends on the loan officer you get. None the less the better business bureau gave Suntrust mortgage an A+ rating.

In closing the only problem i think you might run into with Suntrust mortgage is if you’re late with your mortgage payments. otherwise they seem very good and competent to handle your business thanks for reading my review best wishes to you.

I am (soon to be was) a client of David Baca (Millersville, MD) of Suntrust. He had worked with another family member and I thought I would throw him some business in 2008 financing my first home.

I contacted Mr. Baca recently to re-finance my home and look to possible finance an additional property. I have NEVER been treated with such disrespect. He promised to call multiple times to answer a few question and he never did. When I asked him if he treated all of his clients like this, he said “I’m just one little inadequate man I guess.”

I told him that I was going to take my business elsewhere and he said fine… just like that.

I am a very young woman who is rapidly progressing in my gross income. I could have been a very active customer for David, but his disrespect, arrogance, and lack of customer care is forcing me to end my relationship with Mr. Baca. I will be sure to inform my colleagues, friends, and family to never give Mr. Baca any business in the future.

I believe that Suntrust should quickly reevaluate Mr. Baca’s contribution as an employee.

I’m disgusted, but glad to know his true colors.

I want to also say that I find David Baca to be a disgrace. He did a loan for me several years ago and messed up some of the provisions of the loan. When I contacted him about it, he did not care to rectify it and so I was stuck with it (now I am more savvy and know I could have pushed more to make it correct). He had a bad attitude and it gave me a bad impression of Suntrust. What made it more annoying is that he would send me flyers to solicit my business and ask that I refer others to him. I actually took the time to contact his office to tell them to stop sending them to me and that I would never use him again, let alone recommend him. I recently contacted him again as I had gotten a flyer from him and figured he could at least answer some questions regarding loan modifications as he sold me the loan. Needless to say, he was rude and could not be bothered. He has a very arrogant and dismissive tone about it. I see he has not changed.

I am very glad to report that this is not true off all Suntrust employees. I recently spoke with another employee who could not have been more helpful. In this regard, Suntrust has redeemed itself. However, I agree with the sentiment that Suntrust could stand to reconsider his employment. After my experience with David, I never used Suntrust again, instead i gave my business of the next 13 loans to another company. Suntrust lost out because of David, I pay all my bills on time and am an excellent client.

I have not even begun our payments on our refi with SunTrust and we are already having problems. They call and call and call – every time hanging up on the voice mail. No messages. I called them yesterday and was given lots of excuses but no one was willing to help stop the hang ups. I filed a complaint with the BBB. Today I received a message thru the BBB that I have to sign a very specific release SunTrust has just for complaints via the BBB. Oh my goodness, they have a specific form just for the BBB! Stay away from SunTrust.

Hi, You guys should look into the h0me modification . How the servicers are
taking advantage. Hers what they did . I applied for a loan modifiacation in
May of 08. We were told we qualify. Well Suntrust mortgage never did there job
by not doing the paper work on the loan. Well now Nationstar now says we are
20,000 behind. We were told to pay a reduced amount , we been paying that
reduced amount for 1 and a half years. We now are told we now don;t qualify. You
know that if I don;t do my job we get fired. But nothing happens to them. Please
    tell everyone to watch out.
