Universal Healthcare or Nothing is the Canadian way: Why Canada needs for-profit nursing homes – June 11, 2020,
So Peter Shawn Taylor wrote what I thought was a lovely piece on the Financial Post, but here’s the problem, Canada is a Nanny State and for many Canadians especially a lot of new Canadians who came to Canada because they heard about our FREE HEALTH CARE. These people can vote and it’s unlikely they’ll vote for private for-profit health care services.
If Canada’s health care becomes more privatized chances are either Canada is completely bankrupt or a Maxime Bernier type someone convinced Canadians to give up on big government. I just don’t see it happening anytime soon, because Canada’s health care professionals can vote to protect their jobs and their livelihoods, old people can vote and do the same, there are retired people that don’t even live in Canada that will vote for the politicians who promises them free crap.
Even Canadians that know what’s going on, will vote to expand universal health care just so Canada doesn’t end up like America and yes, a lot of America’s private health care services via their layers government regulations is a disaster and yes, Canadians can point and say we don’t want our health care to be like America’s.
In order for Canada do have more private care, there would need to be a politician who can sell Canadians on having health care similar to Singapore, Switzerland or Germany and explaining that without some crazy Leftist politician trying to say that Canada doesn’t need private health care will be a difficult sell in all provinces.
The way I see it is that things will have to get worse a lot worse before they get better. Argentina as an example refuses austerity measures no matter how many times their currency crashes, that’s usually how this stuff happens, the beauty of the modern world is that millions and hopefully billions of people are waking up to Big government tyranny and there will come a time when there’s a massive exodus from Leftist run sh*t holes.
I’m a firm believer in innovation, there are a lot of innovations occurring all over the world, that are making big government useless, there will come a period in which all of us can completely avoid contact with the government. It already happens in the United States, a lot of middle-class people in the United States have their personal nurse that they hire.
I comprehend what Peter Shawn Taylor is trying to accomplish in his well-written article, but for me, the writing is on the wall!, no need to fighting it, just prepare yourselves accordingly
