Wavee.com Review Is It a Scam
A brief explanation about online penny auction websites is they work a little bit differently from traditional auction websites. In a traditional auction website only the winning bidder has to pa for the price of the item. Also in regular auction sites the items are typically not being delivered from the owner of the auction site instead they are typically owned by everyday people. That being said lets talk about Penny Auction websites. Penny Auction websites work differently its very similar to gambling because with penny auction websites you have to purchase NON REFUNDABLE credits.
Purchasing Wavee.com Credits
Once you’ve purchased these non refundable credits you have to bid now with a penny auction website every bid you make costs you a credit, remember that credits cost you money and credits are non refundable this is why you will hear many people comparing penny auctions websites to gambling.
As we know in an auction there can only be one winner that being said the bigger the penny auction site gets the more money it makes and the harder it becomes for people to actually win something. On side of this fact in the case of Wavee.com they make it clear that if you lose an auction you can still use the credits you lost with and apply it to the their actual price of the item.
As you can clearly see this is obviously how Wavve.com and other penny auction websites will make majority of their profits. Also the bigger Wavee.com gets the lower the chances for people to win something and the higher the amount of money Wavee.com makes.
Another thing i am noticing is complaints from people in the amount of $179. People are getting surprise charges on their credit cards in the amount of $179 this is what i am hear allot about. I can’t confirm this because i refuse to sign up for wavee.com but if this is the case i am advising the public to stay away. I write this posts mainly for education purposes i don’t lke people telling me what to do so i won’t tell you i just hope to educate you in to what you are getting yourself into.
Wavee.com a new model for Auction Websites?
Wavee.com and penny auction websites like it are definite new models business. I wouldn’t call it a scam but i personally would not get involved in it. The appeal is obvious we are currently in a recession and seeing the item you want for pennies would definitely make a person curious to try it out. When talking about online penny auctions its always been my fear that the game is rigged. either by a person or by the software. I am not in anyway accusing Wavee.com of doing this but it’s something i think about personally.
Another thing rarely discussed with penny auction websites like Wavee.com is how time consuming penny auction websites can be. If you ever get a chance listen to the stories of the average winners of penny auction sites. Many times these people spent entire days or weeks on the penny auction sites many times spending more money on buying credits losing than it took them to win. Most winners won’t tell their entire stories they will only tell you that they finally won. Again the bigger the penny auction website gets the more money the penny auction site makes.
If you want to sign up with Wavee.com don’t let me stop you just don’t say i didn’t warn you.
Please leave your comments or experiences with Wavee.com below it helps others
They are 100% SCAMMERS!!! Did you get your e-gifts yet? Plus I called to complain and I was told that they are having technical difficulties with the website, it was not processing the winning bids by resetting back to 20 seconds. So I said ” Did you send out a message, or an email about it” she stated exact words ” Ma’am, no one is making you bid!” I was so mad!! They just dont care!!! The get tons of money, they should not have this many problems!! The owners should be ashamed of themselves!!! I will call again to try to get my refund, oh and she also told me that if i close my account I will not get the gift card that I won, well I still have not recieved the email to pick which one yet so I guess I just wasted my time and money. Stay away from Wavee.com SCAM!!
I’m bidding (really watching) and the same names obviously the companies people) are coming up for about 50 $900+ items and whenI bid it also puts my name on those items even thuogh I’m not bidding on them. Somethings smells terribly bad here. This website link was on thebest buy website andit’s a total scam.
Maybe I should come in and shut this whole thing down. I am an employee for WAVEE and I can guarantee you that it is not a scam. The thing is that if YOU do not read the fine print carefully it will probably seem misleading. I cannot say that we are “EBAY” or “AMAZON” but we are working to get there. With the CC “scam”. Sometimes your number will not process for some time, so therefore we are obligated to inform you that something could be wrong, when in actuality it is just our system moves a little slowly. WE ARE NOT A SCAM! We have plenty of testimonials from people who have placed bids on things, won them, and received their item. You are not obligated to put in your credit card number in the beginning. We offer you 5 free bids. READ before you go putting in your information. We have OUTSTANDING deals for first time users, and if you do not like the site then you are free to delete it from your browser and move along.
These guys are a scam. Like an idiot, moron ignorant consumer that they figure they can dupe, I signed on only to realize I gave them $75.00 for 100 “bids”. Each time you bid…the bid total is reduced. Bid 10X on one item and you spent $7.50. If you think 100 bids is alot before you run out, think again. I got screwed right from the beginning. Once you “sign on” (if you can) you will be shown a choice of a few items which NEVER time out. It’s always priced so they will get you to bid each time.
Anything is a scam if there are chances that you may never win ! I am hypothetically assuming that Wavee is a genuine website without any in house or dummy bidders from the company side for my analysis below. There following points (from the Terms and Conditions page) about this site suggest that the chances you win are meagre:
1.) Credits expire in 6 months of purchase. By that time if you dont figure out how to win or if there are too many people bidding then your money is gone even if you want to use it for a later time.
2.) Soon the situation will be that the site is so popular that you have very less chance on any auction and hence you dont bid and Wavee makes all the money (6 month time limit).
3.) Wavee can limit number of auctions you can take part, hence youre chances of winning are limited
4.) Wavee can limit the number of auctions you have won. Means if you win 20 auctions. Wavee can say hey you have won enough, stop!
5.) There are no instant auctions for big items. Auctions for big items are scheduled. You cant setup a auction at 2:30 am and have only yourself on a 500$ item auction.
6.) They may replace the item which was in the auction with a equivalent product, if they dont have the original item with them. If you put a Panasonic HDC-HS60 on auction and give a JVC as a replacement, why will I bid again?
7.) If you win a auction but dont pay up for the product, your account may be terminated or you may face legal action (this may apply to even Wavee Bid Bundles for new members)
8.) I cannot check Auctions ended before 7 days prior to today. If I dont find my product in those 7 day auctions then how will I build my strategy for the next auction of that product.
9.) There is no limit on how much you can bet for a auction. Today I saw a member who spent $668.25 on bids and has to pay an extra bid amount of $135.61 ($803.86 in total) for the item priced at $299.99! .See the details below. If there can maniacs like this who will go to any extent to win (maybe thinking they will win big in another auction or are downright dumb) then can me or you win ?
XBox 360 4GB Kinect Bundle
Retail Value: $299.99
Final Bid: $135.61
Cost of Bids: $668.25
Total Cost: $803.86
10.) Last but the easiest point is that they dont have mazon.com or Macys gift cards. After all the members on the site are shoppers. Wavee has only a lousy $25 Starbucks gift card and a Wavee gift card. If Wavee doesnt have any products in its inventory as the order statusses on many winners suggest then we are buying fake stuff with real money!
On the other hand, I never put my CC details on the website still got the 5 free credits. Once you sign up with out giving your CC information anywhere, login and click on your user name at the top of the site. You will be taken to a web page to edit your profile. A link there will ask you your telephone numner and a verification code will be sent to your phone using which you can claim 5 free credits !
I agree with the point that this is nothing but gambling. If you want to play think a lot, watch for few days then take the stage.
Hello All,
I too was duped by wavee’s website. I thought I was applying for a 5 credit trial when in reality I was being set up for a $179 charge for 300 credits. The website is very cleverly designed and very quickly you are taken to a purchase that you are unaware of. After many repeated attempts to get a refund and many of the same, ‘we are sorry but that money is non refundable’ answers. Today I sent an email detailing some of what hase been said here along with a threat of a class action lawsuit through the firm that just won suit agains’t ATT and is in suit with BP. Within about 4 minutes I received an email stating “Typically we do not allow for refunds under these circumstances, as the price is very clearly disclosed and this purchase was non-refundable. However, as a valued customer, we are making a 1-time exception and submitting a refund for all unused purchased credits. You can expect to see your credit within 3-5 business days. Please let us know if you have any further questions.”
So it worked, but I am still pissed off that I (and what looks like so many others) have been duped and then treated the way wavee has and so I am still considering beginning a class action suit against wavee. I was curious as to the level of support for this action may be out there.
At the very least, threaten them with action or web press to get your money back, it seems that is all they respond to.
Scot
I have had the same problem, I wish I would have seen these comments before I got curious and signed up for the “Free registration” and “free 5 credits” after i realized that they took $75.00 from me and when I tried to figure out where my money was going for this website all the “How tos” didn’t answer my questions. This is BS, I have no money and after they took that money out of my account I cant even buy my prescriptions. I could have used that money to actually buy something useful.
This site is nothing but a scam. When I went on the site it showed what appeared to be one cent bids. It claimed big savings through auctions of name brand products, so I begain to open an account to learn more about the site. Being acustomed to auction sites like Ebay and Amazon, I was not suprised at the questions asked including credit card information, which all online auction sites require so that they know that you have a means to pay for any auctions you bid on and win. With that said, I proceded to do the trial auction which do not state any money was actually being used for bidding or that anything would be paid out if I won. Then a pop up page asked me to purchase credits, since I did not want to purchase any I X’ed out of the screen, I did not authorize any purchase, and there was never any confirmation. Next thing I know I have 120 credits, 107 un-used. At this time I felt un-easy so I exited the site. Next I went to online banking and found they had charged me $75.00. After that I started checking this company out on scam sites, hundreds of complaints. Then I went to Better Business Bureau site where I found they closed 104 complaints in the last year, many showing consummer remained dissatisfied. The BBB rated them D+ on a scale from A+ to F. Since the BBB only compiles information on cases closed, there could be hundreds more cases which have not yet closed. From reading ripoff reports it appears they try to fall back on their “No refund policy”, which is probably disclosed in fine print, if at all. I don’t recall ever reading any such policy. Well, at 63, living on Social Security, I don’t have $75.00 to lose, but I also realize that my bank won’t do anything, the BBB might but it could take a very long time, and law enforcement has probably already been notified, but scams like this don’t get a very high prority. Well, I think I found the answer. Report them to US Visa direct, not througth my bank. My one complaint probably won’t do much, but if all the people who complained on Ripoff
Report complains to US Visa, Visa will have to step in or cancel their merchant agreement. This might not do much for people already scamed, but it would stop people from being ripped off in the furture.
I had a similar experience as Dennis.I went on line to check out auctions for an 8gb compact flash card and the site required your credit card info to proceed. I did not even go to a “trial auction” and I don’t remember any window assigning me any credits. I was downloading my transactions for my credit card into Quicken this morning and saw $75 from wavee.com. I contacted my credit card company and it looks like I’ll be able to get it reversed since wavee.com does not answer their phone (888-989-2833, I did call during their “business hours”), nor is wavee.com/support for “live chat” a valid web site. STAY AWAY from wavee.com, red flag, red flag, red flag.
Well counting the winners (those happy with Wavee purchase) and the losers (those who spent money and have nothing to show from Wavee) I find there are about 30+ losers for every winner. This is a ratio that just screams “SCAM” for those with eyes to see and ears to hear. Like the lottery and casino gambling, Wavee appears to be a tax upon the statistically challenged. RED FLAG!
I was realistic when signing up for this website. I purchased the basic starter pack offered of 75 “chips” for $48. I went in this to try to get games for the Wii I bought my children for christmas. The first thing I did was ignore the page that asked me to buy chips. Then I searched around to get to know the terms and offers. I found the starter offer and began watching auctions. I noticed the key was to be the last one to bid without a bid knocking you back to 20 seconds. I testing the waters with some gift card auctions and won 2 $25 gift cards. This in essence got my money back. Now I went to the Wii games. I lost one auction by not paying attention and missing my chance to bid. But I stuck with the next auction until my chips were gone. I ended up winning a BOT war and reduced the purchase price by $15. After losing the auction it self, the purchase price was a good deal at almost half price. I took it. I am satisfied with my experience. The key is to reading your options and setting your expectations. I have one new Wii game and $50 Best Buy gift cards to by another.
Don’t blame them for YOUR OWN FAULT. If you have COMMON SENSE you would have read everything clearly and understand how everything works, or even call them directly before you provide your credit card information.
I’ve been using Wavee since February, never got charge extra $75 or $179 like any of you did.
To be honest, I was sooo confused of how it works, so I literally spent a good 15-20mins on the phone with them just to make sure it’s worth it. So I suggest you to give them a call if you have ANY DOUBT BEFORE you enter your credit card information.
I think many of you who are so negative toward Wavee is because you don’t understand what it is. Probably many you thought it is ebay or amazon, but I bet Wavee doesn’t want to be either of them… lol And it is definitely NOT like ebay/amzaon.
@Maddy, they DO HAVE MORE giftcards choices. I think they are called the $25 E-Super Certificates, and there is A LIST of CHOICES for you to choose your winning gift certificate.
Wavee is very much like a lottery except that the House takes a far greater share than even a numbers running racket. I won a couple of auctions for bid credits and got my overall cost for credits down to about 40 cents each from the 75 cent rate the site charges to start with. Even at 40 cents a bid, the site is raking in many times the value of each item. Say a $200 item ultimately sells for 90% off — $20 for a $200 gadget is a great deal, right? At a penny per bid, it takes 2,000 bids to go from $0 to $20. If each bidder paid the great price of 40 cents per bid, that means Wavee made $800 on bids and $20 from the winner. Even if they go down to Best Buy and pay full retail price of $200 for the item, and then pay $20 to ship it to you, they would still be ahead $600. Where this all this extra money come from? Some came from the auction winner, but mostly it came from the dozens of auction losers who were enticed by the sweet deals … just like a lottery. It’s not like I haven’t heard the phrase “If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.” before, but I still let myself get scammed. Stay away from Wavee.
I thought I was just registering at their website and ended up getting charged $75 on my card. I am normally cautious whenever giving my card number out but was tired and just Accepted the Terms to skip legal jargon. I expected a page to confirm the charge but was given a congratulations instead. I’m sure its all very legal but very deceptive! I spent about 45 minutes trying to reach a person at Customer Service. When I finally did (I kept my cell on speaker phone as I drove), I asked for a refund and I got one without any problem. I still plan to contact my Congressperson(s) about this sales tactic.
Sounds to scary, tricky and confusing… no thanks.. Thanks for the heads up, ill try something else.
When you are intentionally creating false bids by multiplying bids on others items that the user did not bid on, I would say that’s a scam. You increase the price by multiplying the bids. In addition, why do I have to pay if I don’t win a bid? If it’s a gambling site then say so. Don’t call it an auction. In an auction, you pay if you win. You might pay a 1-time cover charge, but this is comparable to Costco’s membership fee. You have to buy enough to justify the membership fee, but it is not up to chance.
I love how the employee that posted here had the same attitude as the phone rep mentioned in the first post — If you can’t read the fine print, that’s not our problem. If you don’t like it shop somewhere else. That’s what home lenders said to all the homeless families on the street now. I guess they have to justify their job so they can sleep at night.
I will shop elsewhere because I shouldn’t have to play detective AND lawyer while buying a TV. I prefer to do business with honest people.
Next they’ll say I should have brought an exterminator if I didn’t want to be bitten by a rat while eating at their restaurant!
I sure am glad I found this info before entering my credit card info on the Wavee website…knew just knew it was too good to be true. Thank you.
Well I already payed 124.00 lets seen if my winning laptop ever sees me??
You know that old saying. “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn’t” Nothing is free and they can’t stay in business giving away items worth hundreds of dollars for pennies, it sounds like a scam, it looks like a scam, and these folks that have tried it say it’s a scam… so what other conclusion can you come to?
First day I bid, I won something minor. Today I went to bid on a Nintendo Wii and after spending $75 for 100 credits, I bid I had approximately 70′ points and started continually getting the message that I was “timed out” of my login. It took forever to login again until I finally couldn’t login anymore and I got a notice on my computer that says “There is a problem wian invalid security th the website’s security certificate. Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server.” BEWARE. I went to another computer and got another message :This Connection is Untrusted” Wavee.com uses an invalid security certificate”.
To correct my previous comment, I didn’t realize my keys jumped around. It should say “There is a problem with this websites security certificate. The rest is correct. Sorry about that.
It is no doubt totally unethical and unacceptable that they charged money without clearly letting you know that they are charging you money. This definitely needs to be fixed. However, once I made my stupid mistake, I sucked it up and tried to make the best of it. I have won two $25 e-certificates for $.27 and $.31 each that I have traded online for two $25 Walmart giftcards. So now, I have recouped $49 of what I was duped for. I am working on another and should recover almost all of my $75 and still have bidding credits left. I say make it work for you and then close your account. That is my plan.
I don’t think it is a scam but I also don’t think they know how to do business appropriately. On their website they have a forum set up for customer support. Only wavee members can view the forum. Over the last several weeks there have been tons of people complaining about being charged the $75 without realizing they were going to be charged. If this many people feel the site is misleading then it is. I myself also signed up and was charged $75 without realizing it. The other major issue is the amount of time it takes to get items. I won an ipod 20 days ago and it still says processing. They say it takes 10 days to process plus 2-4 days to mail. When I follow up with them they say I should receive a tracking number soon. I counted over 50 responses from the last three days from people in the same boat. I think Wavee is too small of a company (only 20 employees) to handle the massive amount of people bigging and I think they need better customer service to follow up with issues. I think that the site is a great idea I just think that Wavee executives are giving penny auctions a bad name with their slimy business practices. If they are overhwhelmed they should hire more employees to keep up with the demand. Because they are making tons of money on these auctions.
Think about it: each bid costs .75 and theh big only goes up one penny. So for the ipod I purchased 20 days ago I spent 1 big and paid 1.97. Which means that while I only paid a total 2.72 for this item. Wavee earned $147.17 for an item that retails for $49.00.
And for the bigger items, that is really where they earn their money. For a computer that retails at $900 that auctions off for $200….That is 20000 bigs at .75 each which rakes in $15,000!!!
IT is a scam been trying to get something all day and I hate this it was so frustrating!
Thank you for the thorough message on Wavee.com. I was about to purchase credits for it seem like a steal, but thought I best to my homework first and find out more about it. Based on how you put it, I can see how it can actually be a SCAM! Thanks for the online warning…..
I signed up recently after some very positive national press. STUPID DECISION ON MY PART!!!! They have LOTS of disclaimers in the fine print about potential problems with your internet connection – okay, kinda makes sense. However, in my case I have a fairly new computer with a cable modem internet connection and I have NEVER had problems with my internet performance. At least until wavee. It all started when I was trying to find out about how to join and what it costs. I hadn’t fully decided to do so. I thought the sign up was similar to a paypal thing where you entered your payment type but no payment would be made until I specifically decided to do so. Next thing I know, there is an “internet connection blip” and I find that I was immediately charged $75 without ever being notified in advance of that – or having the option of confirming that !!!! Not real happy, but maybe it was a real connection issue. So to shorten this story, these connection problems continue through EVERYTIME I have ever logged on. I get error messages that I am not logged in – but they pop up after I really have logged and I have been bidding on an item for 5 minutes. Nice. So I send email after email to wavee through their support contact. NOT A WORD IN RESPONSE. Never.
Take a look at other comments above and you will see that this is a pattern. I plan on contacting the BBB (they are Atlanta based) and do everything I can to make this known and make them accountable. MAybe you can get deals on items, but their approach to dealing with customers is unconscionable.
OK…,.,for most of us we are quite certain Wavee is a huge scam. Now, what action can we take?…Class action suit, Consumer Complaint agency, investigative reporters at radio and TV stations. In my opinion most of us are getting ripped off by Wavee……. What is the actually percentage of participants who actually win a desired piece of merchandise?
Wavee needs to go bye bye…….Any lawyers or legal assistants with any suggestions out there?
AVOID WAVEE
Just another internet scam. Remember there is no “free lunch”.
SCAM!!!!!!!! How is this website still up and working. It should be shut down!
Guys, Wavee is simply not a scam. I’m not sure what the fuss is about with your experiences, but honestly, I have won so many things like iPod Shuffles and stuff for such low prices, it’s crazy. It’s not guaranteed that you invest a bunch of money and get a bunch of good stuff out of it. Be smart. It’s a great site.
i just heard about it a couple of days ago and wantd to ry it then after seeing there home page and almost giving my card i was then intrigged to research..thanks for this info.i guess nothing is that great of deal, just a big scam.
Wavee.com is bullshit website out to F*&K the Consumer I just spent 48 dollars for What you say? Nothing!!! I would have rather spent that towards an IPAD Only need about 440.00 dollars more.
Yep thats right Nothing Because they keep adding 20 seconds to every bid. This site show be investigated by the Gaming commission for GAMBLING THATS RIGHT FOLKS I SAID GAMBLING!! Not BIDDING!!!!GAMBIDDING
Thanks to everyone who have posted on this blog and to the originator. Like many other I was about to enter my CC information when I stopped and decided to google it …. and yes! the 2nd line was wavee scam!. Now that I see all that is happening HELL NO I’m not gonna register through them. Thanks Again!!!!
I encourage everyone to file a complaint with the Atlanta BBB. It is easy to do on-line. I did it. Did Wavee refund my money? Hell no, but they did make total a$$e$ of themselves in their responses to me, which I found satisfying. My complaint talked about not only the money, but also their website glitches (I know what you are thinking and I have NEVER had any problems with any other website other than Wavee) and the fact that they refused to respond to my original outreach to them directly. Wavee (who states specifically that “customer service is their #1 priority) NEVER mentioned, addressed or responded to any customer-service related comments in the BBB complaint rebuttals. I pointed this out in my final BBB complaint comments.
The thing is – maybe you can get good deals, but is it worth being treated like dog turds? I guess some folks don’t care, but I really get heartburn supporting companies who treat their customers like that, while concurrently espousing their “customer service priority”.
THEY WONT GIVE ME MY XBOX 360 KINECT THAT I WON. THEY SAID IT WASNT IN THE CATEGORY. THEY SAID IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO BE IN THE KINDLE, WII CATEGORY. IT WAS THERE! IWON IT AND WON’T GIVE IT TO ME
THEY WONT LET ME SPEAK WITH THE SUPERVISOR DIRECTLY. YET SHE WAS ABLE TO PUT ME ON HOLD AND SPEAK WITH THE SUPERVISOR. SHE SAID SUPERVISOR IS BUSY AND UNABLE TO SPEAK WITH ME AT THAT TIME AND WIL GIVE ME A CALL BACK. I HAD CALL 2 DAYS PREVIOUSLY AND STATED THAT IT WILL BE RESOLVE IN 24-48 HRS.
To let others that were scammed out of their money…….within 2 days of filing a complaint with the BBB, I got a full refund. I suggest the same for those who are getting NO WHERE dealing directly with the company. I got my full $179 credited back to me.
I just sent them this email – explains my experience and I will await their reply.
No nothing is solved. I upset because of several deceptive actions by your site.
I felt the way you got me to the auction was deceptive – email said you were “SELLING” nothing about “AUCTION” – DECEPTIVE and crooked. In addition the that the video shown once you were redirected clearly said money spent could go for the “buy now”. Deceptive again because it was after I got in and started the bid process did I see that button that said THIS auction did not qualify. Again, already too invested to quit.
After several stressful hours, I had to go live life like a normal person – I did use the useless halo button (of which you charge $1.50) but in the end there is no way of verifying your sites use of it on my bidding. One would just have to trust you are honest but it is apparent to me that honesty is in short supply at your end. Came back to the computer and after several stressful hours had to go to bed and forced out of the auction. The real kicker is that I logged into it THE NEXT DAY and it was STILL going!!!!!
I had NO IDEA that you would be locked into bidding – auction I was in was still going THE NEXT DAY!!!!! NO ONE can sit at a computer and bid for that amount to time – I found myself too invested to quit but was unable to devote the time to even have a possibility of winning.! I feel you all deceptively took my hard earned dollars and I am exploring what can be done about it.
I would LOVE for you to tell me what your average return is on items – you make thousands off one item – disgusting how you make that kind of money in such a deceptive manner. I find it hard to believe the average price on the ipads is $46.00 that is the point I started my bidding – over 24 hours later it was up to $200. Even if that were true – GUESSING .75 PER PENNY MULT BY SAY AVERAGE 10 PERSONS PARTICIPATING IS $7.50 PER PENNY. 4600 pennies to get to $46. (my math is poor – you tell me if I am wrong) 4600pennies X $7.50 = $34,600. OMG! Please confirm if I am calculating correctly and if not show me how it should be. If this is the kind of money you are making – I want in – how do I do that………………..
You must know I just ran through these numbers while answering your reply so I need to do some additional research to see if my numbers are anywhere close to accurate. If this is true – I need to get the word out to the public on what you are doing, the amounts of money you are making on hundreds if not thousands of consumers in this deceptive manner. Sounds like an excellent 20/20 or Nightline consumer beware segment.
I would be happy and just go away if you would appease me by returning my investment I had no chance of redeeming anyway and by doing one or more of the following:
Refund my money and you can ban me from future participation – but I fear you are not ethical enough to say “sorry, here is you money, no go away this game is not for you”.
If you would but a “TIME LIMIT FOR AUCTION TO END” and post it so one knows how much time to allot.
Explain why you prohibit bids spent on the “buy now” – on this particular item. If you sell an item at your full price in the end you still keep all bidders dollars unless they apply to buying full price too – right? Your still making thousands of an item that cost you under $1000.00 Are you not making enough money at this point ? If you are just clearly doing this on popular items because you know the bidding will continue for hours if not days and this is where you can make drastic profits, fine – your choice – I do not have to participate. If that is the case you SHOULD FULLY DISCLOSE UP FRONT IN THE VIDEO and not hide the small print that these popular items would not be subject to money applying to “buy now” until you have enticed a consumer to participate. You are right stating you disclose in on pages in the site. But you mislead the consumer to get them in and many customers will not be looking for your small print for something contradicting what they were originally led to believe.
I thought I had another suggestion to make your site more ethical but it escapes me at the moment and I have to run. I will await your reply.
Thank you.
its a scam they charge my cc without me knowing..i got an email after signin up with a 75.00 charge on it they necer asked what opition i wanted they just charged it.and i did notice alot of the same names bidding on alot of other thing at the smame it.stay away

CAN U SAY CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT
I registered, thought it would be like Ebay, and I was given some credits because I sure as heck didn’t knowingly authorize a purchase for any but low and behold, my bank shows a $75 charge. Stay away!
My sister just called me to ask about this site. I did 3 minutes of research and advised her to steer clear of the site. I have read the first page of complaints here and not one of you have suggested what I consider the correct step in dealing with this worthless outfit.
Seems most want to contact the BBB for help. It has ALWAYS been my experience that the ATTORNEY GENERAL is the best route. They will investigate them ( with enough complaints), bring a lawsuit when needed. I did see that some suggest a class action law suit. If you are talking a personal attorney (which will cost you) I would suggest the Attorney General who is already your attorney of sorts, with LOTS of resources.
I signed up (no credit card info given)…and when I saw that I had to buy credits first, I decided to watch an auction first. Funny, watching it gave me time to think…and do some math, as I saw the same people bidding over and over and over! Then I decided I needed to do some homework before putting my credit card information in there – and I am SO glad that I did!!! Nope – not getting involved with this one, too easy to spend WAY more than you intend – and from the sounds of it, at the very end…maybe YOUR bid doesn’t go through??? It may not technically be a scam, because they are actually “playing” the greed card, “something for just a penny” – but then when they have you hooked, it ends up costing you a whole lot more! And it sounds like the customer service got auctioned off to someone, and they are all out of it!!! I don’t want any part of it!
I love how someone who works there got on. I just want to say almost all penny sites are scam most people don’t realize but you pay in the beginning to buy your bids, then when you bid you pay so much for using that bid, so in reality you are paying twice for one bid. I emailed them about it and got no response, shocker. Not to mention all the bots they have in competition with you, that magically quit once you stop bidding. I would stick to ebay, amazon, and craigslist. And report the site to the BBB I do all the time, it works.
definite scammers… i won an auction 2 1/2 weeks ago and they are still “processing” my order… only took them seconds to process the charge to my credit card….
I won an auction on quibids and received my order within 10 days…
stay away from wavee.com
Wavee.com is the most fraudulent online “business” I have ever run into. Being a penny auction (or however they describe their business and how it works) has nothing (ZERO) to do with their fraudulent behavior and results, regardless of how “fair” or unfair their bidding process may be.
They fraud you out of money up front and then they fraud you out of money if you “win” something. I have never seen a business like this – blatant fraudulent activity. My only shock is that they have not been shut down and thrown in jail yet.
This URL looks like a very good place to complain. PLEASE, everyone complain and be honest in your complaints.

Yeah it’s a scam. After I called to complain about my “New” iPod that arrived a month and a half after I won the auction, the iPod had scratches, no box, no headphones, no usb cable and had some girl named Brianna’s music and info on it(obviously used), the customer service rep was rude on the phone. They said “we buy things off eBay and Amazon and send them out. Send it back and we will send out another one.” No thanks.. I will let Wells Fargo go to work on this fraudulent website and all the crooks who work there.
Wavee is a huge scam and the owners of Wavee own many other similar type scam PennyAuction sites.
Not to mention they spam your email addresses too. AVOID
wevee almost snagged me for $75 and almost $2 for winning a supposed trial bid, I only stopped it because I checked my email. Thats when I discovered that they had already charged my credit card for the $75 for 120 credits that I did’nt even know I had. I tried to sending an email or contacting them to ask where these credits came from and after repeated attempts all I seamed to achieve was the same message you are already logged in. I immediatly called my credit card company told them my card had been stolen and cancelled my card stopping the transaction, and had a new one issued. Fortunatly I caught this very quickly. Hopefully someone can read this stopping them from doing the same “stupid thing” Conclusion I will in NO WAY look at any of my junk emails. Should have known better in the first place. Here’s my sign!!!
I too am a victim of this website. I did some research, obviously not enough though. I thought the terms that I agreed to were the security and privacy issues like most agreements. I disputed the charges with Wavee, which seems to be a lost cause and now am disputing them with my credit card. We will see how it goes. I am going to contact my attorney general also. There should be a big fat notice-like “this will cost you $75 if you check this box” type of notification. I hope there won’t be anymore suckers like me.
This an amazing way for THEM to make HUGE money. Figure it out.
$1,000 item x .01 per penny bids that cost you .75. If the bid is up to $300, then Wavee has already received 30,000 bids x .75 or $22,500!!!!! and they haven’t even sold anything at that price! Notice that the same bidders are bidding on most items to keep you within 1 second of a win. You could imagine it would be them auto bidding under aliases to keep the suckers bidding.
Once they have made a killing, whatever that amount is, their auto bidders would drop out and LET you win for lets say $400. Wow, they have theoretically collected 400x.01=40,000 bids x .75 or $30,000!!!! Nice.
What is more likely is that their auto bidders are making most of those bids, so they don’t make the whole $30,000, they have a set price to make, let’s say $6,000 for a $1,000 item. So once they have reached their profit threshold Wavee let’s you WIN!!! Whooo.
Typical appeal to greed, something for nothing! Very sad. Wake up.
i got taken too bought $100 worth of bids one nothing even when i was the only bidder it is 100% scam should be arrested and put off aol i am planning on pushing this it is so misleading
Ordered my grandsons wii gaming system on the 1st of the month for Christmas. Haven’t gotton it yet. Still says processing. I have called and they can’t tell me anything but it won’t be here by Christmas. This company sells 24 hrs. a day but you can only reach them Mon-Fri. Told me it would take 2 to 3 weeks plus about 4 days to receive.I told them it had been that long. She said “business days”. Can’t count every Sat or Sun.I made a big mistake ordering from them and told them so.I think it is a small company that don’t have enough stock to fill the orders and enough employee to ship the product. They won’t be around long. It is better to pay a little more and have it in hand.
BIG SCAMM NO WAY TO WIN JUST SPEND MONEY NEED TO SPEND TO MUCH TIME ONLINE ONLY TO WATCH THE BID CLIMB PENNIES AT A TIME. THEY MAKE BIG BUCKS AND YOU LOOSE. WIN NOTHING…
Oh, I wish I had never heard of this penny auction site. Alas, the gambler I didn’t know I had in me came out. Things I bid on seemed to be ‘ended’ after I left the page to look at another item. Oh, I wish I’d never heard of it on the news, which now I think our local news station got paid to put on as a fill-in news story with no bad news. They should be illegal. Where can I buy stock in it?
It is quite a scam and should be illegal.
Class Action?
I spent $75.00 for credits, then $37.50 for credits. I ordered the XBox360 Kinnect for $137.50. That was Nov 16, 2010. It is now, Dec. 22, 2010 No item has been shipped. I finally, after 10 calls, 4 e-mails, was able to cancel the order the money will be refunded 7 to 10 days. But that’s only the $137.50. The other money, they flat out refused to return. I asked to speak to a supervisor, the Supervisor will call me back 24-48 hours. The recording on the phone when I call says that Customer service is #1 with them. That’s crap! I suggest that they are a scam, do NOT PURCHASE FROM THEM!!!!! Order number: 685251
well they got me for the tune of 75.00 – no way to complain to the bbb in ga – they dont answer their phone – tried to file complaint on line – no way to do that either
i am going to the bank today and they r going to take the charge off
also unerstand that they r probably no longer in business – at least there is no address and dont even try 2 call cause every extension they list is not working
DO NOT EVEN GO ON LINE W/THEM
i would be glad 2 joing a class action suit
to debra: how did u get thru 2 them – i’ve tried all morning w/no results
please explain
Yes, a proft for Wavee and all others like it. Save your pennies and your dollars. You will spend more time untangling the mess than the pleasure of trying a few dollars of penny-bids. Pay .03 for something and 2-3 dollars “Postage” one win at a time. My debit card fraud alert shut down my account until I could get back to them.
I ask for tracking info they send the wrong info, or for product already sight. They tell me they sent the object on the 9th of Dec. Wavee then tell me they were returned to sender. Wavee cannot provide the tracking infomation for the packages sent on the 9th but are able to provide tracking info for the package sent on the 13th of December. If they can provide one and not the other this leads me to believe that they were never sent.
When I bring up the inconsistencies they apologies. The customer service rep for Wavee say “the package were sent but ups sent them back.” If ups made it to my house, they would have left info when they would be back, or where to pick the item up at. I looked at my calendar at the dates they said it would be hear and I was home or some one would have been hear to claim the item. Other inconstancies are that the object is to arrive on the 13 and 14th yet they are in the same package.
When asked again for tracking info or why it has not arrived I am told it is because of the holidays the weather, or not in stock (why sell item not in stock). Excuse after Excuse I am given. All I want is the truth.
One item was Won on Nov 20th and still has not arrived this is the 21st of Dec. They tell me that they were shipped today but cannot provide a tracking number they also say they were sent on the 9th but cannot provide tracking info. On Wavee site they say they will give you the tracking info so you can track the package but it is never provided. We are now passed the 15days of prosing and shipping and if I will not wait then they will give me my money back. So I spent whatever money on the auction and I will lose that money. But I can have my $2.05 back but not the 100 tokens at $.75 each which equals $75.00 where is this fair. Now take into effect that I am not the only one who bid on the objects. This is a scam……what else can it be called when you pay to bid then you don’t receive the item and you can have the $2 back but not the money for the tokens. So they Wavee makes $75 plus don’t have to buy the item. THIS IS THE DEFFINITION OF A SCAM.
So now I am stuck waiting on Wavee to send the items. Hope and pray they will arrive. Cause I do not want to loose the money from the auction. On top of this Dec 21st they say they sent the Sony theater system and the Wii game. But I have not received the tracking info not from Wavee site or from the e-mail.
When Wavee does send item they are not the item that was won and the value is less. More proof this is a scam.
My additional questions are you thieves?
If a product does not arrive on time (time being what you post on your web site) what is it that you will do to satisfy your customer?
If you promise tracking info and you do not provide it what is your policy?
Their BBB is at a D- now… not long and it will be at an F like so many “auction” sites out there. BTW you aren’t bidding if you fucking pay for it ahead of time! A real auction’s winner is the only one paying at the end for the highest bid, not in between for every time he bids. It baffles me how people still jump on this train and don’t think “hmm, that’s not REALLY an auction per se if I have to pay first, right?…” Beezid, BidRivals, all of them are scams and have terrible ratings with the BBB. AND any “news specials” on some local news channel is paid by the company and it seems that if it wasn’t paid off, the news channel would have investigated into their business practices..
Thanks for the information, it’s good to have this kind of site for people to read.
Thank god for sites like this! A little investigation goes a long way to saving the heartache of being suckered into spending money with unscrupulous people.
I joined wavee back in September, surprisingly won an item for 95% off the very next week, but have not receive the item after 3 months and several emails with support. This site is a total scam.. don’t join.
I just got taken for the $75, I saw a link for them a few times and decided to take a look, I made a profile, simple enough right, and I entered my credit card info like an idiot. I never saw anything eluding to the face that I was being charged for “credits”. Only when I received an e mail a few moments later thanking me for my donation…er…”purchase” did I realize what just happened. So I immediately contact my bank, they say well call the merchant, here’s the number…oh wait…the number given to my bank is missing 1 digit making it impossible to contact. So i tell them this is a blatant scam and want the transaction cancelled but they say they can do nothing for me, I am advised to settle my dispute with Wavee, well I cant, they do not answer the phone at all. So I cancel my account with my bank, and file a claim with my bank against wavee, oh yeah and it’s Christmas eve too, what a day.
Oh and if anybody finds out about a Class-action against them please let me know, I am furious about this matter. I have a minimum-wage job and am a college student so a good deal is very tempting, I should’ve known it was too good to be true, [email protected], forward all e mails about pending litigation against them my way, lets shut these losers down.
I got an email about this site. Looked at it. Not sure why I had a gut feeling this was a scam, but glad I did not enter any CC info, especially after reading the comments on this site. I feel bad for the people who were suckered in by these amoral people. In the end, remember…..if it is too good to be true, it prob ably is. And you can not get something for nothing or next to nothing….NEVER. IT IS GOING TO BE A SCAM. Ebay and iOffer.com seem to be the only legit websites where you can bid in an auction or counter offer a price.

Sign your info into them and surprise, $75 disappears from your card. The way this description goes is exactly like a pyramid scam. The 1st ones in make the money. I cancelled my card immediately and claimed against approving the $75 charge. Can’t anyone make money legitimately anymore?
All the same issues as I read and have exp them myself, I had the mystery charge, a 9 digit # to call, and its unfortunate I have been on for about 3 weeks trying to win something, and its amazing how my pc locks up at the final seconds of a bid and even shuts down and requires me to sign back on, then guess what, the bid was over during that 15 second time and I am out. this has happened 6 times in 3 weeks and I had my pc checked last Thursday to make sure it was not acting up or had a virus that seems to only work on the WAVEE web site. Clean as a whistle.
PLEASE INFORM me of any Class action taken because I have printed documents that would make great evidence.I can be mailed @ [email protected], Thanks and DONT GO THERE OR EAT YELLOW SNOW, thats what they are selling
wavee is a TOTAL SCAM, IF YOU LIKE TO TRY YOU MAY NEED TO BUY COIN TO PLACE A PENNY BED, THIS MONEY IS NOT RETURNED…. AND YOU MAY NOT HAVE A CHANCE TO GAIN IS GAMBLING FOR A PENNY IS A TOTAL SCAMMMMMMMMMMMM.
Is it just me or is almost everyone online these days out for the scam. I am sooo sick of it.You can’t trust anyone anymore.
thanks everybody…if it’s too good to be true…staying away from this site
I was also taken for the $75.00 fee. let me know about any class action suit my email [email protected]. The bank was no help, said they could not legally stop the transaction because it was my debit card that was used, said they would have to let transaction go through(even though that meant my account would go negative) then I could despute it and the company has 45 days to respond! That really sucks! The end of christmas I will be returning home to NO food in the fridge for my family because we used all left overs b-4 leaving town for the holiday, and I have no way of buying any since my account will go negative with all the associated fees!!!! These people are heartless money eating monsters!!!!
Well…I wish I had read this before I ever went on that forsaken website! I was scammed by Wavee.com as well. The only advice I can offer people who want to attempt to right any wrongs perpetrated by wavee.com, is to do what we did…contact the Better Business Bureau.
After attempting to call the website’s phone number (with no luck), I simply filled out a complaint online with the BBB in Atlanta (that is where their “office” is located). Well, it still took FOREVER for them to deliver, AND we received the WRONG PRODUCT, but at least I was able to get a prompt response from Wavee via the BBB (plus, now there is a record of all of our problems with them). We weren’t able to get Wavee to address the monetary greivences we have with them…but at least the BBB seems to offer a way of contacting this website without getting the run-around.
I have no idea why I let my guard down momentarily while perusing their site…I thought I was REGISTERING FOR THE SITE, not “purchasing” anything. I gave the CC info because “Step 2” says you’re just seconds away from being able to bid…and I idiotically assumed that Step 3 was the one that would involve purchasing bids. OF COURSE that’s what they expect you to assume…Duh. I could shoot them – I’m out at least $57 and change…and that’s IF they let me “downgrade to a lesser package and credit my account within 7 – 14 business days.” Ugh!!! Monsters. Next stop BBB.
Gosh so many of us are looking for great deals and so sad to get caught up in the entanglement of dishonest people. I too was almost taken for 75 bucks.I had no idea I was buying these “credits” then I received an e-mail thanking me for the payment of 75 dollars for 100 credits, I thought what the ??? I called my credit card co and had the card cancelled cause I thought if they are so dishonest they would probably sell my card number to someone else (3rd country selling). I called the Wavee Co. (should be called (con-ee co.)and waited for 1/2 hour to talk to a live person, I told her my confusion over the charge she then put me on hold for another 10-15 minutes (I think she thought I would give up and hang up!) then she did come back on the phone to tell be she could credit me with the “credits not used” and I told her it would save both of us a lot of time if she just credited me back with the $75.00 as I would do a charge-back and an investegation on Wavee Co. She then told me that the 75 dollar charge would be taken off. I told her I did appreciate what she did but told her that I was sorry for her to be working at a co. that was such a scam…she hung up on me! Anyway….don’t get caught up with this or any other “penny” auction web site they are “greedy money monsters”, I don’t know how those folks can sleep at night…I wish them “Scrooge dreams”. DON’T EVEN DEAL WITH THESE FOLKS YOU WILL GET SCROOGED!!
I am frustrated at my stupidity for going onto this website in the late evening and not reading the fine print of the Terms and Conditions. I also thought I was registering for the site. I did make 2 bids and thought I would be charges $1.50, not the $75.00 that is on my VISA. VISA won’t stand behind me because I checked “agree” to the terms and conditions and I don’t have a tangible product about which I am not satisfied. I think CC companies should back up virtual as well as physical products. I don’t think its ethical or legal to have a non refund policy when the site leads one to belive one is paying .75 per bid. Wavee just bought a TON of bad advertising by not refunding my measly $75…I would gladly join a class action lawsuit!
OMG, I am usually hesitant w/things like this, but it sounded lagit! NOT, I also lost $75 to bidding credits. Unfortunately for me, I sat for 5 hours on Christmas Day bidding on a Red Wii, ran outta credits, got frustrated, & the Wii was not sold till 2 hours after that! The clock countdown kept stopping or freezing, which wasted more time. Very disappointed in Wavee. Why can’t a comp like this make money, but still let the consumers win. Definately a scam:(
they are a bunch of motherf**kers, cause thes just took my money from my account and finally i won an auction on november 10 and today is december 28 an i’m still waiting for my items….. this sh*t sucks.
@reyes: I have no doubt that had we not contacted the BBB (see above) we would have nothing to show for our negligence. It took a while, but we do have a product, which we GROSSLY over-paid for, but a product, none-the-less =)…
I usually do a research on a company before signing up but tonight I must not have been in my right mind to register before doing a research on them, I am pisst at myself for forgetting to do that today and now I have to deal with $75 worth of headaches. I went straight to the BBB and filed a complaint. I am going to blog, tweet, and post on FB to warn everyone I know and don’t know about their scamming website. Spread the words people!!
i signed up for wavee knowing that you have to pay for credits but i thought it was a pay as you bid type of deal. As soon as i hit confirm they charged 75.00 to my F -ing credit card. so i treid to win somthin but its impossible to know if they have people jackin up prices too. its a complete scam and i wish i saw this web site before i even thought of signing up. i think there should be a class action suite against these a** holes…
If it sounds too good to be true it is.
The problem is the consumer laws have been gutted.
Now we are forced to live with this and many other such scams.
Pleas friends Report to Police about this CHEATER yess I DID A COMPLAINT ON THEM… if we are real Americans…then we need to save our people from this kind THEFS AND CHEATERS BIG SCAMM NO WAY TO WIN JUST SPEND MONEY NEED TO SPEND TO MUCH TIME ONLINE ONLY TO WATCH THE BID CLIMB PENNIES AT A TIME. THEY MAKE BIG BUCKS AND YOU LOOSE. WIN NOTHING…
THIS PROPLE ARE REAL TERRORISTS FOR OUR COUNTRY
I watch a local new cast on this auction site they did say that I would be charged .75 per bid, I was bidding on a kindle reader, I bid up to $134.00 on the item per the board cast the creator of the company said that the credits could be transfer to the buy it now which was $184.00. I went to purchase and the only credit I got was for a $1.25 on the purchase it was never mentioned that a green light had to be on to transfer the credit, this company is a scam and Pay Pal should not have their name associated with this company there needs to be a class action suite done on Wavee.
Agree with those that want a classs action suit! This needs to have some legal attention brought to stop this stealing. They will not give any information on the product or how the auction operates until $75 is paid and they have your credit card. Then, the time required to follow an item is rediculous and on top of that they give you an option of any item of your choice in similar price range…. so, you are not actually even bidding on the same items as the others! I have always respected Amazon but this is where I first found the advertisement for Wavee – any site that allows them to advertise is equally guilty of fraud in my opinion.DO NOT FALL FOR THE SCAM!
Like an idiot, I am also a victim of this crime paid $75 to these criminals. These folks needs to be locked up. They are criminals and should not be allowed to operate scam.
I had two windows open side by side watching in details on both site. One with laptop($235) and one with blueray player ($220). What I notice was that the people who are biddin are exactly the same incuding the bidder, time of the bid and total amount of both items are exactly the same at the same time. So I bid on blueray player to break the pattern. But the other item that I did not bid showed my name. This is not true and I found out these folks are running background program that are fake.
Given opportunity, I would also like to joinclass action suit against these criminals. My e-mail address is [email protected].
They got me for the $75.00 also. I figured I would suck it up and just run off my points. During this process I won a surround sound system. I paid for it immediately. It has been 6 weeks and still no shipment! Their e-mail response is to apologize and say they are running behind. I expect we will end up in court. I hate thieves!
I AM A B*TCH From hell!! I WILL get my money back from this website…it is bullsh*t!!!NO ONE takes my money for NOTHING.. geez i feel sorry for them now!!!I will let You all know what happens REALLY SOON!!!!!
I was scammed out of $75 on my debit card and they said they would refund it. Still waiting. Going to bank to see if they can retreave the money. I think I have been scammed.
Everyone Please consider filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission for fraudulent practices.

Seriously, didn’t THAT tip you off? I see many folks complaining that you can’t trust anyone any more but you signed up to get a 23$ iPad. Obviously somebody is getting suckered.
I do agree that the 75$ charge s nonsense and a class action lawsuit s in order but, if you give out your credit card info you should expect to be charged for something
I believe we should start holding the media accountable. They should know better. They are selling us out just to make a buck. The media is also perpetrating a fraud. Yes…Wavee is a scam.
Purely a scam. Thought I was just registering but before I knew it, an email thanking me for purchasing 120 credits. I call the scammers to cancel the charge and at the same time, called by bank. Thankfully, my bank put a charge back against Wavee and my money was refunded immediately.
Let me know of any class action suit against these scammers.
