Canada Post reports $153M loss in 2019, even as a monopoly it’s not profitable Unbelievable! – May 21, 2020
Being perfectly honest I’m not a Canada Post fan, I’ve written at least 10 articles about Canada Post on this blog, however, what’s worse than Canada Post is Canadian Union of Postal Workers better known as CUPW, if Canada Post workers have run into profitability problems with their pension, the root cause of that won’t be Canada Post it would have been CUPW!
Justin Trudeau already squandered the Canada Post Bailout Money!
In Case Canada Post workers haven’t realized, current Prime minister of Canada Justin Trudeau has been spending money recklessly and although right now, I’m writing this in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, nobody worries about public deficits in the middle of a pandemic, it’s what happens when the pandemic is yesterday’s news and now we have to deal with consequences is the period that should concern you if you’re a Canada Post worker.
I personally thought it was demonic when CUPW told Canada Post workers to strike during the holiday season. During that period something said to me, eventually those workers are going to pay for what they did. Well, what’s hurting Canada Post write now is the same reason CUPW workers were striking and that’s parcel delivery, which oddly enough should be Canada’s Posts bread and butter, if I worked for Canada Post there is no way in hell I’d give that market away.
Snail mail is dying, letters, checks, and bills are being replaced with emails, mail advertising is dead, and being that we’re entering into a period where a lot of businesses will be looking to make cost-cutting cutbacks, I’m not sure about betting on snail mail. through junk mail in the garbage before I even look at it.
For a lot of Canada’s and I’ve been writing about this a lot, we’re behaving like this its the late 1990s, I’m sorry that period is gone, the internet has changed everything, Amazon has created a whole new courier animal, and now the modern courier is saying screw a 9-5 I work as a private contractor anytime I want.
I was told Canada Post was even having trouble attracting motivated talent like I’ve been writing about for years, I wish I was growing up in this era, I wish I was a twenty-something-year-old now. One of the smartest things the public school teachers did in Canada was brainwashing the young into thinking a 9-5 job is a good idea.
If ever these young generations of Canadians figure out that the government is preventing them from working when they want to work and make a decent living, a lot of these old dinosaur government state-owned enterprises are screwed. In BC, the government is preventing young people from being successful Uber drivers, I bring this up because Uber isn’t the only competition for the Taxi Cab lobby, they’re competing for Canada Posts Parcel delivery!
Now, I’m not the person who will say Canada Post shouldn’t be protected, what I will say is I think Canada Post is too big! There are certain regions in Canada, that private couriers simply aren’t going to go to because economically it doesn’t make any sense. I personally wouldn’t want Canadians living in rural areas not to enjoy the spoils of Canadian life, but I do think that if Canad Post workers continue to allow CUPW to push them around, they should be a niche Government entity, that services rural communities!
During this COVID-19 pandemic, I’m hoping Canada Post turns a profit, it would be unacceptable for Canada Post not to turn a profit in 2020, however, what I will say is COVID-19 does have an expiry date and being that I go outside every day, the couriers dominating the outdoors in Toronto aren’t Canada Post trucks!
There’s a lot about Canada Post I won’t say in this article, you can search this blog for my other Canada Post related articles if you’re interested!
