NetFlix – Dirty Money – The Maple Syrup Heist Review
Price controls, a central theme in Marxism doctrine, control, control, control, a free market is gross, ugly, a zero-sum game, without the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers, where would the syrup industry in Quebec be? Because let’s be honest the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers are smarter than everybody else if it ain’t broke why fix it? right? right? I mean let’s be honest, when Pablo Escobar Medellín Cartel supplied 80% of the United States’ cocaine market at the very least the Medellín Cartel got paid while the other drug deals struggled for the other 20%, this was a good thing at least while it lasted.
The story of Pablo Escobar and the Medellín Cartel eventually ended with the people his monopoly hurt, his competitors and, of course, the government turning on him because he became too powerful and went from being an asset to a liability. Monopolies typically end this way, because the leaders of those monopolies are often short sited, looking backward rarely forward.
My review of the Dirty Money series that focused on The Maple Syrup Heist is that it was well done, it gave you two fair sides of the argument, there were, of course, those for price controls and those that were against price controls. Obviously, the villains were presented as the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers however the film did allow them a platform to present their case. Which I personally thought they did a pretty good job doing, however as always people who are pro-price controls when put under a bright look do appear to look not only pathetic but greedy as well.
Great Canadian Maple Syrup Heist – Wikipedia
As, a true entrepreneur, you don’t create value by using the force of the government to shield you from competition, instead what typically happens in the real business world in the real world of real entrepreneurship is if your brand is selling well, what you’ll usually get are knockoffs. An example Apple products are usually copied, Versace, Prada, Nike, and other brands often have their original ideas stolen which of course allows these companies to charge higher prices. In the real business world, you can’t knock off quality, knocking off quality results in a company having to pay the same or similar prices to make the goods that original manufacturer pays, because of good labor, hard work, high-quality human capital it’s hard to find.
People who believe in price controls believe that all human labor should have a fixed price that’s controlled by a central authority. At its core this is Marxism, price controls similar to any other form of tyranny revolves around greed, the Medellín Cartel used any means necessary to hold onto power, they, of course, justified this in any manner they choose. The Chinese Communist Party justifies all their actions in any way they deem fit, money, greed, power, it’s a central theme of Marxism, the flaw in this type of thinking is hyper-inflation.
In Capitalism prices tend to fall, socialism, fascism, corporatism Marxism, collectivism prices tend to hyper-inflate and prices typically hyper inflate at the worst possible time. Hitler came into power because unlike the rest of the world that was going through a deflationary depression, Germany went through a Hyper-Inflation. What makes hyper-inflations so dangerous is that most people don’t understand that money is nothing more than a convenient form of bartering.
Bartering, Capitalism and free markets give a lot of people an eerie feeling because the central theme of freedom is creating value, with a centralized figure. Creating something from nothing, imagine Quebec didn’t pass biased legislation, could the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers exist? Yes!, they could but could a rival exist to compete with them? Yes! Which would do what? It would force them to create real value, which they don’t have to do now.
3,000 tons of maple syrup, valued at C$18.7 million?
3,000 tons of maple syrup valued at an inflated price, is a central theme to The Great Canadian Maple Syrup Heist. Who valued it at C$18.7 million? Price controls distort everything when the Netflix series begins, the theme is almost comical in the beginning, because if you really think about, why are all of these barrels being hoarded in the first place? Does Maple Syrup age like wine? No, no it doesn’t so why were so many PAID public servants being put to work on this case? Because the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers intentionally tried to manipulate prices so a select few could benefit.
The argument made by one of the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers was that thousands of new people wanted to join their cartel? That’s why I began this article by writing about the Medellín Cartel, Pablo Escobar was a Leftist and in the heights of his powers, thousands of people, namely young people would do anything to be part of the Medellín Cartel. Now, why didn’t those same people simply form their own cartel? Well, if they did and they became a competitor of Pablo Escobar’s guess what would happen to them? they’d get wiped out, which is basically what’s happening to all the producers in Quebec that don’t need the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers, they’re being wiped out.
Although the words dairy and supply management dominate news headlines in Canada through 2018, the truth is Canada has price controls in all manners of industries, which only now are beginning to show signs of instability. Canada is in debt like never before and I’ve often written about the potentiality that the Canadians dollar is going to hyper-inflate and the hyper-inflation of the Canadian dollar based on my estimations will happen at odds to the rest of the world if something isn’t done soon. Price controls, entities like the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers permeate throughout the entire Canadian economy. Technological advancements aren’t happening as often as they should in Canada, the central theme for Canada is experiencing a brain drain revolves around us price controlling certain industries.
What price controls do, what a lot of people don’t understand is they inflate the prices of everything and eventually the price being paid for labor can’t keep up with the price of inflation. Quebec for a long time has been a have not Province, which allows them Equalization payments in Canada what’s happening in Canada however is we’re reaching a tipping point, we’ve been losing our manufacturing base for years and the main reason Canada has been losing its manufacturing base revolves around entities like the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers.
There’s a Quebec woman in the film that could easily have been a job creator, but she’s stuck, the government legislation she has to shut up and wait for change. The Maple Syrup Heist only exists because of the Maple Syrup Cartel, who justify their existence purely based on Price controls, if that’s not greed, someone tells me what is? Long story short, the writing is all the wall Canada, I write these posts because when the economic crash happens I want Canadians to know where the root causes lie.
When you hear about manufacturing jobs disappearing I want you to know why, there’s no conspiracy theory, it’s not America, it’s not some globalist plot, there are people in Canada that believe in micro-managing adults and there’s a price to this, that price is certain industries aren’t created, which of course, makes us as Canadians dependent on a select few and also dependent on imports. This is why I say there’s a good chance in the future Canadian currency will experience hyperinflation.
Great Netflix film.
Interesting times ahead.
